It's a Girl!

We had our ultrasound yesterday, and
It's a Girl!

It appears to be a very healthy baby with two arms, two legs, two hands, two feet, ten fingers, ten toes, who really likes to suck her thumb! The ultrasound lasted about an hour, and the only time she removed her thumb from her mouth and stopped sucking was when she got the hiccups and the jolt pulled her hand away from her face.

Our Ultrasound Technician went a little photo happy for us, and we are really appreciative. She gave us 7 photos, when they are only supposed to give us one! She kept going on and on about how cute our little monkey was, and how everything about her looked "perfect".

Was there ever really any question that a baby made by Perfect Chris and Perfect Erin would be anything but..................................................PERFECT!

Now, she is only 90% sure that it is a girl, because the umbilical cord was in the way a little bit, but she said she was pretty certain it was a girl, and the cord was far enough away from the body that there really couldn't have been anything hiding there.

The final picture is of the bottom of her foot. You can see all five toes on the left hand side; Her big toe is where the A is.

Her foot is just over an inch long, she weighs a half-a-pound and she is about the size of a banana now, oh...........and did I mention she is PERFECT!

I would like to end by giving props to myself....... So far, I have only gained four pounds through this pregnancy and even my midwife is super impressed so, YAY me! and finally,

..............................................................did I mention my little girl is PERFECT?

Gaining weight during your pregnancy is very important. I am surprised your Midwife is pleased, with only four pounds. Healthy weight gain is important to your babies health. Please see a medical professional, or consult another midwife. Normal weight gain is 20pounds+ depending on your pre-pregnancy state.

For a dr. you seem a little bit excited to jump the gun about how much weight I am gaining! My midwife has been in practice for 10 years and is very qualified.

My pre-pregnancy state is overweight by a large number according to all the books, and the appropriate weight gain for me is 15 to 20 lbs - I am only four months pregnant, and the mid to final months are when you gain most of your weight so at this rate, I am right on target.

Thanks for the concern, but I think we have it under control.
