And It Sounds Like a Baby!

After our first appointment with our family physician, we were slightly traumatized and a little shaken by the tons of pamphlets on possible birth defects and "necessary" genetic testing that the doctor threw at us before checking his watch and running out of the room.

After calming down, and stopping the tears from streaming down my face, we made the decision to find a different form of Birthing support, which led us to our local midwifery clinic.

We had our first appointment with our midwife yesterday and it was fantastic! It was a welcome change spending an hour and a half talking to a professional who truly cares about how we are dealing with being pregnant.

After only one visit, we would definitely recommend this service to anyone who will be having a baby, and it's covered by OHIP. woohooooo!

The very last thing we did at our appointment was hear the baby's heart beat for the first time. What an experience!! Although, I think Chris was a little disappointed that we didn't actually get to see the baby again this visit, he will have to wait another 7 weeks, at which point they will be able to tell us if its a boy or a girl. Stay tuned.......and we will definitely let you know!
